Thank you for your support and participation in Peer Coaching in February! March brings us to the first Supervision session with Dennis Heath. Dennis is an Executive Coach, ACC accredited and has been coaching at senior levels in the private and public sectors since 2004. His background includes thirty years in sales and management positions with multinational telecoms manufacturers in the Middle East, Europe, Africa and Asia Pacific. Dennis is undergoing the final phases of training as a coach supervisor; as well as supervising coaches who wish to undertake supervision as part of their ongoing development; he will be part of a small team contracted by the Singapore Civil Service College to supervise their Associate Coaches. Supervision will be mandatory for all coaches engaged by the College.
Session Overview
Supervision is as valuable to the experienced Coach as it is to the novice. In many ways similar to a normal coaching, a supervisory session seeks to bring awareness to the Coach of his or her relationship with a particular coachee. Supervision shines a spotlight on what may be going on between Coach and coachee at the subconscious level and then enables the Coach to explore how this is affecting the coaching relationship. In the peer group session, Dennis will conduct a supervisory session with a volunteer to demonstrate how supervision works.
Professional Supervision Benefits
- Call on support when inevitable doubts and insecurities arise, challenging the coach when their personal issues become evident in their work.
- Give a degree of protection to the person being coached by ensuring that he or she is working in ways that are competent and ethical.
- Strengthen their coaching skills and knowledge, and deepen their self-awareness.
- Handle challenging coaching situations.
- Pay attention to the ethics of coaching.
- Gain an appreciation of the nature of their relationship with the coachee, both conscious and unconscious.
- Understand the Coach/coachee partnership and its relationship to the bigger system of Coach/coachee/organisation/industry/world.
Calling for Volunteers
In order for this session to take place we would require a coach volunteer to bring a situation for the supervisory session.
Confidentiality is key! We will provide a confidentiality form for record, in all sessions.
