Speed Networking: Practice Building Rapport Quickly and Effectively to Promote Your Coaching Practice

The September Monthly Meeting will present an opportunity for participants to practice the competencies of creating relationships and building rapport.

We will use a highly interactive, energetic and fun process to facilitate a series of short networking conversations among participants. During these conversations you will have many opportunities to share and find out more about each other, practice building rapport in a short time frame, and refining your “elevator pitch”. This process will allow participants to plant the seeds for future opportunities for collaboration, business referrals and mutual support.

Whether you are an experienced coach, an aspiring coach, a business leader or an HR professional, this meeting will provide a unique opportunity to practice the competency of connecting quickly and effectively with people. Join us to build your business, and get a better sense of who and what is out there in Singapore’s coaching community.

To gain the full benefit of the event, participants are encouraged to come armed with plenty of business cards and to give some thought to their one minute elevator pitch.

Dear ICF Community,

Welcome back from the Summer holidays! We have had a wonderful year of facilitators at our circle, thank you all for your contribution. September will be a good time to use our session to remind ourselves of the ICF Core Competencies, by having a structured peer coaching session based on our traditional ICF Singapore process.  Some of the past feedback from our peer coaches that have participated on this process remarked:

  • "The Peer Coaching circle has a natural ability for all participants to establish trust in such short time!"
  • "The part of the process on 'empathizing' is very powerful and eye opening, gentle and similarly very resourceful in providing diverse perceptions from different characters in the case at hand.  Amazing first experience for me!  Thanks and congrats!"
  • "It is valuable to take the different roles in the group, i.e. case provider, moderator, group member, as this really broadens perspectives."
  • "I enjoyed the power of the 'empathizing' segment in the process, as well as the honesty and the humility of the case provider."

Request for Volunteers!

We are calling out for 2 volunteers for the roles mentioned below. Each role distinctly value-adds to your coaching and facilitating skills and is a great opportunity to put into practice the art of professional coaching in a safe learning environment supported by your peers. Please mention which role you would like to volunteer for, when you sign up for the evening.

  • Case Provider- brings a current issue he/she would like help on.  He/She will obtain insight and creative out of the box ideas to move his/her case forward! Basic guidelines are provided by the Peer Coaching Chair to support the writing up and presenting of the case. All participants will sign a confidentiality form prior to the session. To preserve confidentiality, all copies of the case will be returned to the Case Provider at the end of the session
  • Moderator -facilitates the ICF Peer Coaching process and is responsible for keeping time and process on track. Great skill to add to your portfolio!  The process is provided.

Important Information

To ensure coaching professionalism, the 2010-2011 ICF Singapore Executive Committee has established that: "ALL participants are requested to have at least 60 hours of coach training as well as being a practicing coach in order to attend".

Next Session

The next Peer Coaching Circle will take place on Thursday, 13 September, 2012

*The attendee is accountable to pay SG$10 to the ICF Singapore, as cover charge for the event venue.  You will be provided with a receipt upon payment.  The permanent venue is a key step in ensuring stability-growth of the Peer Coaching event.  We look forward to your support and thank you for your understanding.  Payment may be made in cash or in check to: International Coach Federation - Singapore Chapter.

The Peer Coaching Circle is a professional body, open to all practicing Coaches who are ICF members (with a minimum of 60 hours of coach training) and will entitle you to valuable CCEU hours towards your on-going learning. The structured process provides Coaches with the opportunity to receive inputs on a current real-life coaching challenge.  Confidentiality is key to the process and a prerequisite for all participants.
