Webinar Topic: Relational Presence for Coaches

8:00 pm to 9:30 pm
ICF Singapore Members: Free (Please log in to register for the webinar)
CCEUs: Core Competencies 1.5

Focusing on four ICF core competencies, this webinar equips coaches with the core elements from the Relational Presence methodology to increase their coaching effectiveness by expanding their capacity for presence.

In this 90 minute webinar held by videoconference, coaches will learn a way of “being with” their clients that heightens trust and intimacy, enriches coaching presence, deepens active listening, and fine tunes direct communication.

Coaches will leave this webinar with a fresh take on their way of being with clients that supports the ICF Core Competencies. Coaches will be trained to use their newly expanded capacity for presence in full service of their clients.

Demonstrations will be provided with volunteers so that all attendees will have direct experience in seeing how presence affects the relationship.

Please refer to the ICF article on this subject at:

Learning Outcome:

  1. Establishing trust, and knowing what trust is. How do you know when you have it?
  2. How do you know you have presence? Learn to stay open, confident, and flexible. Discover where you are most present and where you can improve.
  3. How do you stay focused on your client? Learn to listen for meaning, and how to hold back from your own interpretations of what's being said.
  4. Learn how relational presence affects all of the coaching competencies, and gain 3 key skills to use for success with every coaching encounter.

About the speakers:

TinaMertel Facilitators Tina Mertel and Pam Noda are seasoned trainers of Relational Presence (also known as Speaking Circles®).

Each of them regularly facilitates Relational Presence workshops both for the public and in organizations. Both use Relational Presence in coaching sessions with their clients.

Experience has taught them that being in Relational Presence with clients is the ground of coaching wisdom.

From there emerges a coach’s sense of what to say when and which skills/tools to apply. From there emerges a client’s inner knowing and call to action.
This combination is what yields inspired coaching from the coach and inspired results for the client.

Coaching in Three Dimensions

1.5 (Core competencies:1, Resource Development: 0.5)

Traditional approaches to coaching fail to account for the way organisations really work. Attempts to enhance leadership capability one person at a time, through private one-to-one coaching sessions, are unlikely to succeed by themselves. In this session Dr Paul Lawrence will outline a more connected, systemic approach, aligning coaching with the realities and challenges of organisations operating in an ever more complex world. The session will be practical and pragmatic, sharing some spec
f ic tools and approaches coaches can adopt immediately into their practice.

Learning Outcome:

  1. Specific tools and approaches, consistent with a systemic approach to coaching
  2. An understanding of dialogue, and what a dialogic approach to coaching looks like
  3. New and practical on-going professional development

Paul has been coaching leaders across different functions and industries since 2007 and has over 3,000 hours of coaching experience, working with individuals, groups and teams. COP Mastery in Coaching

"Building Your Coaching Presence by Navigating Emotions"
In Conversation and Movement with Sari Marsden, PCC.

"For many people, especially in the corporate world, moods and emotions, like the body, are simply dismissed as irrelevant and inconvenient. They cannot be commanded and controlled and, as such, they are often seen as "dangerous" or "messy". But moods and emotions are critical because they set the frame for what we see as possible in a situation. If you are full of resignation or resentment, then you will see far fewer possibilities than if you are feeling peaceful or enthusiastic." (FIT TO LEAD - Transforming Your Leadership With the Five Pillars of Performance, by Marcus & Sari Marsden)

Coaching presence requires coaches to be fully conscious and creating spontaneous relationships with clients, employing a style that is open, flexible and confident.

There are many ways to build your coaching presence; one of those is by learning about emotions.

By learning to experience emotions as they are, free from judgement, it can help your clients to create clarity in their decision-making process.

Join Sari Marsden in this 90-minute learning event, with the following objectives:

  • Develop emotional mastery through the practice of “Emotion Naming.”
  • Discover how to navigate emotions with breathing and body movement that is applicable for you and your client.

Wear a comfortable outfit and be ready to move your body purposefully in this session.

At the end of the session, you will identify the physical states and practices that can best support you in your own wellness as a coach.

This talk is based on the Fit to Lead book.

“A leadership book that offers a dynamic new vision of leadership development that places the role of your physical body firmly alongside that of your thoughts and emotions. Written by husband-and-wife team, Marcus and Sari Marsden, the book combines the principles of executive coaching, movement, nutrition and fitness training to provide you with a holistic system for transforming your leadership and producing breakthrough results for yourself and the people you lead.”

If every leader had an Evolutionary Coach, if every leader was an Evolutionary Coach, everyworkplace would be the best possible place to work.

Evolutionary coaching is different from other coaching because of the values-based approach within a new psychological framework. We grow in stages of psychological development, we operate at levels of consciousness and we live inside cultural world views. Primary motivations tell you what stage of psychological development you have reached. Secondary motivations tell you what is blocking you, what conscious and subconscious unmet needs you have and how they hold you back from finding your purpose and living your potential.Evolutionary Coaching is about human emergence, about the impact of basic/growth needs dynamics on personal growth and mastering your life.

Learning Outcome:

  1. What prevents people from growing and evolving.
  2. How people can transform their limiting beliefs that are holding them back.
  3. How people can fluorish and realise their potential.
  4. Where are you in your personal transformation journey.
